Food & Beverage Director and Executive Chef Appointed to Lead Culinary Team at World-Class Resort

MEMPHIS (October 19, 2016) —   Something’s cooking at The Guest House at Graceland, the new 450-room luxury hotel located only steps away from Elvis Presley’s iconic Graceland mansion. As the hotel prepares to open with a sold-out celebration weekend on October 27, the kitchens are abuzz, testing menu items and servers are training to provide excellent service in the five dining options and banquets.

Food and Beverage Director David Miller oversees all aspects of the food and beverage is department, including restaurants, catering and banquets. His 25 years of hospitality food and beverage experience includes stints at Peabody Hotel in Little Rock, Arkansas, Lido Beach Resort and Ocean Properties in Sarasota, Florida.

Orchestrating the menus and kitchen staff is Executive Chef Kurtis Johnson, who brings a decade of hotel culinary experience to the resort.  Prior to joining The Guest House, Johnson served as executive chef at some of the top hotel brands, including Hilton and Marriott.

All of the restaurants offer guests a broad assortment of fresh, regional dishes made from locally sourced farms and markets such as the Newman Family Farm, Earth Sprung Grains, Harris Farms Tifblue blueberries, Clay Brook Farms, and Bonnie Blue Farm Goat Cheese.

The resort’s premiere restaurant, Delta’s Kitchen, serves breakfast and dinner daily.  Located adjacent to the lobby, the restaurant offers indoor and outdoor seating for up to 172 guests. Delta’s Kitchen serves southern cuisine, celebrating the culinary history of the Tennessee and Mississippi River Delta.  The dinner menu is served from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. and offers appetizers such as the Charcuturie Plate, with local Sausages, Cheeses and Pickles; Lamb Lollichops with Lemon and Pepper Gremolata; Crab Cakes with Orange Brown Butter; and Roasted Cauliflower Steak with Fried Capers and Truffle Oil.  Entrées feature a collection of locally sourced Steaks, Crispy Chicken with Tomato Caper Coulis and Sweet Corn Puree and Pan Seared Crispy Duck with a local Blueberry Reduction.  Seafood entrees include Scottish Salmon with Citrus Tarringon Butter; Scallops with Sweet Corn Puree, Wilted Kale and Aged Sherry Vinegar; and Gulf Shrimp & Cheese Grits with Hickory Bacon.

A Breakfast Buffet is served daily in Delta’s Kitchen from 6:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.; until Noon on weekends, and includes Fresh Fruits, Juices, Yogurts, Hot and Cold Cereals, three flavors of House-Made Signature Southern Biscuits, Artisan Breads, Muffins and Scones. Eggs and Omelets are made to order with a robust selection of locally sourced Vegetables, Meats and Cheeses. An a la carte menu features some of The King’s favorites, including Spanish Omelet, Country Skillets, Stuffed French Toast, Grits and Sausage Bake and Tupelo Tater Casserole.

Delta’s Kitchen features contemporary décor with high ceilings and two walls of glass providing natural lighting, wood floors and walls covered in patterns of goldish-beige and mossy green.

Casual diners will enjoy E.P.’s Bar & Grill, a relaxed restaurant and bar featuring “soul of the south” pub cuisine with a contemporary twist.  Menu items include Catfish Tacos, Short Ribs, Hickory Bacon Mac & Cheese and Grilled Meatloaf. Shareable starters include Fried Green Tomatoes, Deviled Eggs, Baked Oysters and Corn Fritters. EP Burgers are a specialty of the house with the EP Loaded – half pound signature blend of beef, American Cheese, Pepper Bacon, Fried Green Tomatoes, Tumbleweed Onions, Lettuce and EP’s Special Burger Sauce. Desserts include Peanut Butter Beignets with Ancho Chili Chocolate Sauce, Mud Pie Sundae, Banana Pudding and Tennessee Whiskey Pecan Tart.

Guests enter E.P.’s Bar & Grill through two rolled-back “barn” doors to two distinct areas: the bar room and the “pool” room.  The bar room features a bank of four large screen televisions and the “pool” room pays homage to Elvis’ love of the game of billiards.  E.P.’s is open from 11:30 a.m. until midnight (1:00 a.m. on weekends) and serves lunch and dinner daily. The restaurant offers 139 seats, 33 of them outdoor.

Additional dining options at The Guest House include The Lobby Bar, serving appetizers from 4 p.m. until 11 p.m.; the Shake, Rattle & Go coffee bar offering sandwiches, wraps and salads for those eating on the run from 6 a.m. until 2 p.m.; and a full room service menu.

Catered events at The Guest House take place in the resort’s 25,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including the Grand Ballroom, four conference rooms (known as Rock, Blues, Country and Gospel), two pre-function spaces and a theater for live performances, movie screenings and keynote addresses/presentations.  “The Lawn” behind the resort offers an outdoor area for special events.
