3 Memphis Getaways: Rock Star, Rustic or Refined – Excerpt As Published On STLToday.com

By | May 30th, 2017|Food & Beverage, Hotel, News|

MEMPHIS, Tenn. • A truly relaxing getaway is one where you can check into a hotel and never get behind the wheel again until it’s time to head home. Visitors to Memphis, just a four-hour drive down Interstate 55, will find two new resort hotels and one established classic that offer plenty to keep guests entertained. And more adventures off-site are just a short walk or Uber ride away. You may never want to leave your room at these hotels, but you really should. One-of-a-kind experiences await. Rock-star luxury: The Guest House at Graceland Think of the Guest House at Graceland as an Elvis Presley-inspired hotel, rather than as an Elvis Presley-themed hotel. You certainly don’t need to be his No. 1 fan to stay here — it’s pretty cool on its own. The Guest House opened in October on property adjacent to the Graceland mansion, where Presley lived from 1957 until his death in 1977. With suites designed by the rock ’n’ roll legend’s former wife, Priscilla Presley, the 450-room resort is excessively stylish. In the glitzy lobby — where we spotted a bouffant and thick sideburns waiting in line at the check-in counter, along with several contenders for [...]

Graceland and Surrounding Attractions Get An Upgrade With New Museum Complex, Hotel – Review As Featured On The Advocate

By | May 24th, 2017|Activities, Hotel|

He’s been gone for almost 40 years. But Elvis never really left the building. Instead, the immediate surroundings of Graceland, the Memphis home he occupied from 1957 until his death there on Aug. 16, 1977, have received a major upgrade, one that Elvis Presley Enterprises — and Elvis’ ever-devout fans — are counting on to keep his legacy rocking for decades to come. As an EPE executive put it, “There’s nobody like Elvis, and there’s only one Graceland in the world.” With 20 million tourists passing through since it was opened to the public in 1982, Graceland is the second most-visited house in America, after only the White House. It hosts commemorations of not just his birthday, but also the day he died, and inspires hundreds of active tribute artists (don’t call them impersonators). But legends fade. And with an aging fan base (just 20 percent of Graceland visitors were born since Elvis died) and annual attendance flat for the last decade (600,000, down 100,000 from the peak 20 years ago), something had to be done. That's why the Guest House at Graceland, a $92 million 450-room Elvis-themed resort-style hotel, opened next door last October. And March brought the debut [...]

Enjoying the Heat at the Summer Festival in Memphis, Tennessee

By | May 16th, 2017|Hotel|

The summer temperature in Memphis can reach a high of 88.7 degrees Fahrenheit. But you shouldn’t let the heat dampen your interest in having a vacation in the birthplace of Elvis Presley, rock ‘n roll, and blues. If you want to bask in the rich culture, music, arts, and food that Memphis has to offer, summer is still the best time for you to experience all of these. Other Events and Festivals Memphis also holds other annual festivals and events that take place during summer. Memphis Staycation at The Guest House at Graceland – Review As Featured On ILoveMemphisBlog.com

By | April 25th, 2017|Hotel|

Sometimes you need to get away. Far, far away. Other times, a not-so-far-away getaway will do just fine. If you know what I’m talking about and you live in Memphis, let me suggest The Guest House at Graceland. This luxury hotel right next to the Graceland Mansion opened in October of 2016 and I recently had the chance to check it out for a weekend. Settle in and let me take you through my Memphis staycation weekend at The Guest House at Graceland. We arrived at The Guest House at Graceland and our first impression was: wow, this is big. And nice. The luxurious lobby immediately set the tone for a weekend escape from our busy lives. After check-in, we went straight for the lobby bar for cocktails and snacks. (Priorities!) The attention to detail is obvious everywhere in the hotel, from the mirrors and light fixtures to the vintage-style cut crystal glasses for a bourbon-based drink. The lobby bar is open from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Then we explored the grounds of the hotel. There’s plenty of outdoor seating and a huge pool with a wet deck. Take note, summer visitors and staycation-ers. Next, time for dinner at Delta’s [...]

Dallas News – New Guest House At Graceland Resort Salutes Elvis Presley With Elegance

By | April 18th, 2017|Hotel|

Irregularly shaped wing chairs mimic his upturned collar. The lobby ceiling reflects the design on his cape. Hall light sconces feature the initials EP. And beside the pool, a heart shape blazes in the hunka hunka burnin' fire pit. The new Guest House at Graceland salutes Elvis Presley at every turn, yet it does so with high-end elegance and muted bling. The walls sparkle, but quietly, not blindingly. This is the new, 450-room resort and conference center that replaces the old Heartbreak Hotel across the street. Carrying a sort of '70s Vegas vibe, it's designed to evoke Elvis Presley, but in a way that's not kitschy. Well, it might be just a tad kitschy that there's a flat-screen TV embedded in the ceiling of each of the two King Suite bedrooms over a bed swathed in red velvet. But it's also awesome, inspired by Elvis' own bedroom at Graceland (except his TV wasn't a flat screen). Read the Full Dallas News Article Feature >

StyleBlueprint – The Guest House at Graceland: A Rockin’ Haven Fit for a King

By | March 30th, 2017|Hotel|

Elvis Presley fans might be the best ever. They’re down-to-earth, friendly, loyal and just the right kind of interesting. On top of that, they come from nearly every continent and age group. At The Guest House at Graceland, though, fandom isn’t required. In fact, the Memphis resort hotel, which opened in October 2016, was designed for the Elvis impersonator and the suspicious-minded visitor alike. Of course, there are subtle nods to the King, but they have been executed with tasteful nuance. No gaudy jumpsuits to be found — unless you count the pointed backs of the lobby chairs. According to Mike Pramshafer, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at The Guest House, the chairs were designed to mimic the shape of Elvis’ upturned collar. Another fun fact: The lobby ceiling replicates the carpet pattern below, and both are inspired by designs on the backs of EP’s jumpsuits. As guests approach the large white columns and pull into the porte-cochere, they’re sure to encounter Southern hospitality. With or without luggage, whether self-parking or valeting, visitors are treated as invited guests. Mike said that before Elvis died, he had plans for a guest house — albeit much smaller than a 450-room Guest [...]

Forbes – How To Spend Two Perfect Days In Memphis

By | March 30th, 2017|Hotel|

Because of a fellow named Elvis Aaron Presley, Memphis’ place in musical lore is secure. Dig a little deeper than Graceland in the liner notes, though, and you’ll uncover a list with so many other monumental names (Aretha Franklin, W.C. Handy, Al Green) that you start to get all shook up by the city’s true historical significance. Blues City celebrates its place in the sonic sphere every year with the month-long Memphis in May extravaganza, with the Beale Street Music Festival being the headlining event. This year’s showing on May 5 to 7 will feature behemoths in rock (Kings of Leon) and soul (Jill Scott), but it’ll demonstrate its diversity with hip-hop (Wiz Khalifa), reggae (Ziggy Marley) and country (Sturgill Simpson) as well. But tunes aren’t the only place where Memphis is mixing it up. Of late, the city has also shown that it can jazz things up in the kitchen and make some noise in the hotel world. With our Forbes Travel Guide editors’ 48-hour itinerary, you’ll be able to sample some of the new with a bit of the old, and put it all together in one sweet-sounding getaway. Planning Your Visit To Graceland In Memphis, TN

By | March 16th, 2017|Hotel|

These days, Graceland is pretty much a household name. Back when Elvis purchased it in 1957, little did he know it would become one of the most famous, most visited homes across the country. In this article we’ll be discussing some of the history of Graceland, the changes that have been occurring, and what you can expect when planning a visit. We’ll throw in some tips on “must-sees” while here, too. Due to The King’s growing popularity and stardom back in the late 1950s, he needed a place to stay with plenty of privacy. He bought the Graceland Mansion that was on just shy of 14 acres. Even though he traveled a lot, and had other homes across America, Graceland was always home base for Elvis, his family, and his guests. Nowadays, Graceland has become a major tourist attraction, with many fun, interactive experiences. Within the last couple of years, the whole area has been dramatically revitalized, with new projects being planned, developed, and opened. One of the biggest was the opening of our hotel, The Guest House at Graceland. It was the largest hotel project in Memphis in over 90 years. Our luxury resort welcomes guests from all across [...]
